Cyclophosphamide (CTX) was used to establish the immunosuppressive mice model. The immune organ viscera index, phagocytes vitality, the levels of cytokines in serum, the oxidative stress resistance, proteomics and intestinal flora in mice were investigated to evaluate the effect of immune regulation of Nigella sativa seed polysaccharide (NSSP). The results showed that the high-dose NSSP group could significantly increase the thymus and spleen index. The levels of ACP, LDH, T-AOC, SOD, IL-2, IL-4 and IL-6 were significantly increased and the levels of TNF-α and MDA were reduced. All evidences indicated that NSSP could improve the immune effects of the immunosuppressed mice. Proteomics investigation showed that NSSP could improve the immune by regulating the differential proteins of PI3K and PTEN, and regulating the metabolism-related pathways such as autoimmune diseases and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. of Gut microbes analysis showed that NSSP could exert immunomodulatory effects by improving the structure of the intestinal flora, increasing the diversity of the flora, and regulating metabolic pathways such as lipid metabolism, polysaccharide synthesis and signal transduction by the prediction of flora metabolic functions. In addition, NSSP could regulate intestinal environment by regulating the content of short chain fatty acids. This study was carried out to characterize antioxidant activity, total phenolic content, and the phenolic and flavonoids profile of postbiotic of Pediococcus acidilactici and to evaluate the effects of postbiotics (10% and 50%) alone and in combination with chitosan coating (1%) on the microbial and chemical quality of chicken breast fillets during storage at 4 °C. Antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of the postbiotics were found to be 1291.02 ± 1.5 mg/L TEAC and 2336.11 ± 2.36 mg/L GAE, respectively. The most abundant phenolic was vanillic acid, followed by t-caffeic, gallic, and caftaric acids. The postbiotic-chitosan (50% + 1%) combination decreased L. monocytogenes and S. Typhimurium counts by 1.5 and 2.1 log10 CFU/g, respectively, compared to the control (P 0.05). Postbiotic-chitosan combinations extended the shelf-life by up to 12 days compared to the control. In conclusion, the postbiotic-chitosan combination can be used to preserve and improve the microbial quality of chicken meat products. The study was aimed to investigate the simulated digestion behavior of the bioactive polysaccharides from Chimonanthus nitens Oliv (COP1), antioxidant activity in vitro, and prevention against cyclophosphamide (CP) induced oxidative damage in mice. The results showed that COP1 were 18.843 kDa, and consisted of arabinose (56.6 mol%), galactose (24.9 mol%), xylose (11.1 mol%), and glucose (7.4 mol%). Gastrointestinal digestion significantly improved the radical (DPPH, OH, and ABTS+) scavenging activities of COP1. Meanwhile, administration of COP1 (150, 300, and 600 mg/kg, continuous 16 days) prevented hepatotoxicity in CP-induced mice (reducing liver index and transaminase levels, alleviating liver damage). COP1 also attenuated oxidative stress as evident from as shown by reduced levels of MDA and enhanced activity of antioxidant enzymes (CAT, SOD, and GSH-Px). In addition, COP1 regulated the Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway in CP-treated mice, decreasing the upstream factor Keap1 and increasing the upstream factor Nrf2, which in turn enhanced the expression of downstream factors (NQO1, HO-1, GSH-Px, SOD1, and CAT). COP1 also protected the body from CP-induced oxidative damage by down-regulating Bax and caspase3 in the apoptosis pathway and up-regulating Bcl-2 mRNA levels. Overall, COP1 might be harnessed as an effective natural antioxidant for medical and food industries.Lignin is abundant and contains a large number of aromatic groups. Herein, CdxZn1-xS photocatalyst with tunable band gap energy was successfully synthesized by using 3-mercaptopropionic acid as a structure tuning additive. CdxZn1-xS can depolymerize alkaline lignin to vanillin by the photocatalytic process. Each gram of alkaline lignin can produce 46.5 mg of vanillin. 2-Phenoxy-1-phenylethanol (PP-ol) and other model compounds were used to understand the depolymerizing process of lignin. Fine tuned CdxZn1-xS can effectively cleave the Cβ-O-4 bond existed in PP-ol under simulated sunlight. The highest conversion of PP-ol was 89.5% with phenol and acetophenone yields of 66.2% and 33.5%, respectively. The mechanism studies confirm that the Cα-H in PP-ol and lignin is firstly dehydrogenated to form Cα radical intermediates, and then the photogenerated electrons break the adjacent Cβ-O bond. This research provides a new strategy to prepare valuable chemicals by virtue of renewable biomass and simulated sunlight.Steam explosion (SE) was a friendly environmentally pretreatment method. In this study, the effect of steam explosion (SE) pretreatment on structure and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of Ampelopsis grossedentata polysaccharides was evaluated. Two novel polysaccharides (AGP and AGP-SE) were extracted, isolated, purified and analyzed by NMR, FT-IR and methylation. The results indicated that AGP mainly consisted of Rha, Xyl, Glc, and Ara with a molecular weight of 2.74 × 103 kDa and AGP-SE mainly consisted of Man, Ara, and Gal with a molecular weight of 2.14 × 103 kDa. Furthermore, the backbone of AGP and AGP-SE were mainly composed of 5)-Araf-(1→, -Glcp-(1→, 6)-Glcp-(1→, 6)-Galp-(1→, 3,6)-Manp-(1→, and 2,3,6)-Glcp-(1→. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/tertiapin-q.html Finally, we demonstrated that all polysaccharides exhibited obviously α-glucosidase inhibition activity and mixed type inhibition. AGP-SE had better α-glucosidase inhibition activity and the binding affinity KD on α-glucosidase by using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) than AGP. Overall, SE pretreatment is an effective method for extracting polysaccharide and provides a new idea into the improvement of biological activity. The review aims to summarize and discuss the current knowledge on targeting senescent cells to reduce the risk of age-related diseases in animal models and human studies. The role of cellular senescence in aging and the major age-related diseases -including Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis, and type 2 diabetes- as well as the use of senotherapeutic strategies in both experimental and preclinical studies, will be described. A large number of molecules, including synthetic agents and natural compounds, have been proposed for anti-senescence activities. Research on senotherapeutics, which includes senolytic and senomorphic, has a growing interest, and their safety and reliability as anti-aging drugs have been tested in clinical trials. Initial findings suggest that the senotherapeutic approach may be translatable to humans. Due to the lack of evidence, caution must be used against senolytic agents due to their potential side-effects. In this context, natural senolytic compounds should have the advantage of low toxicity and potentially more useful in humans, although the mechanisms of action need to be de?ned.
